Summer Mission 2026

Four batches. Twenty-one villages. One calling.
Riau, the Lingga and Anambas archipelagos, and the Mentawai Islands.

This year, Summer Mission sent four teams across some of Indonesia's most remote island communities, from the Anambas and Lingga archipelagos in Riau, to the mainland districts of Riau province, and out to the Mentawai Islands off West Sumatra.

Getting there was rarely simple. These are places reached by ferry, by speedboat, and sometimes by whatever boat happens to be going that way. One team nearly ended up stranded.

But by the end of the season, our volunteers had seen more than 2,100 patients, taught and encouraged over 1,500 children and students, and made more than 1,300 food packages available to families who need them most.

• Anambas Islands

  Our first team of the season opened Summer Mission in the Anambas Islands, one of the most remote island groups in the Riau archipelago.

  • Free medical clinics served 195 patients

  • Gathered 217 children for the Inspiration Generation seminar

  • Made 362 food packages available to local families

  • 2 evening crusades brought 96 people together.

• Lingga Islands

  June 27 to July 5 · World Harvest · 28 volunteers

  Our largest and most ambitious deployment: eight villages across the Lingga Islands in five days.

  This batch also welcomed seven volunteers from CTC Church in Yuma, Arizona, partners who traveled halfway around the world to serve alongside our Indonesian teams. Watching an American youth worker and an Indonesian nurse figure out how to run a kids' program together, in two languages, is the kind of thing that stays with you.

• Mentawai Islands

  July 16 to 26 · IFGF Los Angeles · 33 volunteers

  Our final batch traveled the farthest, out past the west coast of Sumatra to the Mentawai Islands, serving communities on both Sipora and Siberut.

  The team opened with a crusade held in front of the Bupati's (Regent's) office in Tuapejat, then spread out across five more villages over the following days.

  • 961 patients treated through free medical clinics

  • 385 students reached through Generasi Inspirasi

  • 362 children ministered to through Kids Ministry

  • 915 people attended the crusades

  • 107 people responded to the altar call

What your partnership did

A grandmother in Tajur Biru who can see her hymnal again.
A boy in Rejai who found out that someone flew across an ocean to spend an afternoon with him.
A father in Temiang who brought home a week of rice for a price he could actually pay.
An inmate in Bengkalis who was told he had not been forgotten.
For many of the people fitted with reading glasses, it was the first time in years they could read clearly: a Bible, a text message, a grandchild's schoolwork.

None of it happened because our volunteers are extraordinary people. It happened because ordinary people said yes, and because partners like you sent them.
